In 2024, the Mansfield Historical Society began fundraising efforts to relocate the Cook Cabin to the grounds of the Man House Museum, rebuild the fireplace and chimney, and outfit it as a demonstration cooking cabin.
The Mansfield Historical Society is partnering with the City of Mansfield to move and restore the log cabin across from City Hall to the Man House Museum location on West Broad Street. The restored cabin will have a period 1860 fireplace so period hearth cooking can be demonstrated. The restored cabin will be for various 19th century demonstrations and classes. We have a goal of $80,000 for the construction of the fireplace.
